Gen AI Does Not Feel Like a New Topic. It Feels Like a Mirror
At university our professors often said: prepare yourselves to keep learning for your entire working life. At the time that sounded sensible, if also slightly abstract. You learn new roles and new processes on the job, that comes with the territory.
What is happening now with generative AI feels different. Not like a new topic you eventually master. More like a permanent mirror held up to how you work.
I notice it repeatedly. A result sounds plausible, but the assumption behind it is weak. A step can be automated, yet the responsibility for it stays with me.
That is exactly what makes learning demanding at the moment. It is not only about operating new tools, but about developing your own judgment.
Perhaps lifelong learning begins exactly there. Not with the next certificate, but with the willingness to question your own routines every day.
