Soon AI Will Propose the Scenario Itself. The Question Is Who Owns It

Autonomous finance comes up in many of the conversations I have with CFOs. The idea: agents continuously monitor company data, detect variances early, trace them through the forecast, and propose one or more scenarios for review on their own initiative.

That works. Something else occupies me.

When a person computes a scenario, the assumptions behind it belong to them. When an agent proposes one, you inherit its assumptions. Whether you know it or not.

Steering always includes being accountable for a decision. That part cannot be delegated.
