AI in Controlling Makes Teams Faster. That Is the Problem

AI in controlling makes teams faster. That is the problem. Making wrong assumptions faster just means making them more often.

That was the core of a conversation I had last week. The first generative AI output looks good. A quick glance: structured and plausible. A human looked at it, box ticked. So it goes straight into the presentation, and from there into the decision. The assumptions behind it were never questioned.

AI can aggregate data, summarise text, recognise patterns. It can even build complex spreadsheets.

But checking whether the drivers are right and whether the chosen segmentation makes sense remains a job for a person.

Even when the output looks as though everything has already been taken care of.
