Good Planning Is Measured by Impact, Not Accuracy

In a webinar with Controller Akademie it became clear to me again: success is not decided by tools or methods, but by how quickly and how understandably a company can respond to changed conditions.

Three points stayed with me.

Speed beats precision. Classical planning is built for stability. The question today is not how exact planning has to be, but how quickly it delivers insight when assumptions change.

Scenarios in seconds. How does a manufacturer respond when new tariffs are announced in the middle of planning? It used to mean new spreadsheets, new alignment rounds, new discussions. Now: create the scenario, adjust the drivers, see the effect, right there in the meeting.

Make driver logic visible. Teams often know exactly what happened, but not why. Once you understand how volumes, prices and costs interrelate, you can react faster. And planning becomes steering again.

Controlling gets strong where speed, understanding and impact meet. Accuracy on its own has never improved a decision.
